Back in Maine For A Short Time

Back in Maine For A Short Time

It has been a long time since we updated this blog. For the most part we have used this blog to chronicle our travels and keep friends and family up to date with our where abouts. We had a busy winter in Florida that culminated with the purchase of a new house. Our short stay here at Wilson lake will come to an end on June 7th when we set out on epic trip to Alaska.

We both had a ball in Florida this winter doing too many things to fully divulge. Some of the highlights were being able to spend time with Abe and Alexis in Venice Florida. Our last trip over to the “West Coast” included Zach who flew in for a short vacation so we could get the whole immediate family together. We managed to take in the opening day game for the Tampa Bay Rays who just happened to be playing the Red Sox.

Diana continued to perfect her quilting skills making many quilts for friends and family. For me much of my time was devoted to woodturning and carving. I did manage to find time to bike and play Pickle ball as well.

The new house was a bit of a last minute affair. We had always planed to get something bigger to help accommodate our hobbies. As it turns out our 5 year plan turned into a 5 week plan. Now Diana will not have to sew her quilts with her sewing machine set up on two TV trays with a board between them for a sewing table. I will gain room for my carving as well. We decided to make this move partly based on the right house being available at the right price. We literally found the new house bought it in 5 weeks. We closed on a Wednesday moved all of our stuff, cleaned out a fully furnished house with more than a fare share of nick knacks and an abundant supply of fake flowers and plants, set up our furniture and departed for Maine on Saturday. We couldn't have done it without the help from many friends.

The trip back to Maine was a quick one due to our impending trip to Alaska. Today marks two  weeks that we have been home. In that two weeks we have cleaned the house from top to bottom done all the spring yard work, seen multiple Doctors and several friends. In fact this morning I had cataract surgery on my right eye. In three and a half weeks our journey west will begin. The first portion of this sojourn will take us across the northern part of the US and bring us to Dawson’s Creek BC by July 12th, where we join the Airstream Caravan to Alaska for two months. When the caravan disperses in Prince George BC we set off on the last leg of the trip down the Pacific NW Coast, on into California and eventually take a hard left and proceed to Florida with an approximate arrival in November. We hope to see and experience many interesting and wonderful things all along the three legs of the journey. We will do or best to make blog entries along the way.

Here are a few photos to show what we have been dong these last 7 months since out last blog.
